Gothic style furniture

The name Gothic, as a nickname, is an intellectual, artistic trend of the "Dark Ages" against the ancient Roman-Greek culture, born in the Renaissance. It is not unique that for the first time names with pejorative content become an artistic trend, an age style, for example, baroque neck-wrapped reasoning, Biedermeier is a word composition created to mock gray petty bourgeoisie.

With the expansion of static knowledge, the most defining style element of Gothic architecture became the pointed arch. The heavy semicircular vaults of the Romanesque buildings could only be kept with large massive side walls, so the massive, stocky buildings were characteristic, and the striking, slender structures of Gothic became symbols of the quest for the kingdom of man. The pointed arch is the most characteristic style element in the decorations of furniture that faithfully replicates the architecture of the time.

Within Europe, Gothic, which gained much more space in France, Spain, and the northern areas, was not allowed to prevail in Italy, and the Romanesque with deeper historical roots did not allow it to prevail there.

The furniture of the time has mostly survived as the equipment of cathedrals to this day, it has often undergone our renovation, but its style elements are unique and recognizable.
